Darren Shan has so far wrote two saga's. The first is the Darran Shan Saga consisting of twelve books following a young boys travels through the world of vampires, he is unwittingly thrown into. The twelve books are broken down into four trilogies Vampire Blood, Vampire Rites, Vampire War and Vampire Destiny.
The book list themselves are

1.Cirque Du Freak- A young boy comes face to face with a creature of the night and this creature only deals in blood. Darren Shan must strike a deal and lose
his humanity to save his friend.

2.The Vampire's Assistant- Now Apprenticied to a creature of the night Darren struggles to come to terms with his vampiric powers. He resists the one thing that
can keep him alive...blood. But a fatal encounter with the Wolf Man may change all that.

3.Tunnels Of Blood- Darren leaves the Cirque Du Freak to travel to Mr Crepsley's home town. Darrens faith in his master is stretched to the limits and he comes
face to face with a new deadly enemy. Can a deal be done to save his friends or are they doomed?

4.Vampire Mountain- Darren and Mr Crepsley journey to Vampire Mountain to confront the leaders of the clan. But things soon start to go badly for them they
meet up with old friends and make new ones but danger lies in store.

5.Trials Of Death- Darren must prove himself to the clan by taking on five of the deadly challenges thrown at him. If he doesn't pass them he will be executed
but when a new friend tries to save him Darren realises that his friend is a traitor and threatens the vampire clan.

6.The Vampire Prince- After surviving the nearly fatal ordeal to escape from the execution penelty Darren msut now go back to those taht wish him dead. Can
he unwit a soon to be prince or is this the ends of thousands of years of vampire rule?

7. The Hunters Of The Dusk- The new vampire prince is being bored by his duties but he about to face the deadliest challenge ever. With the threat of the
Vampanze Lord at hand him, Mr Crepsley and Vancha March a fellow prince must start their paths to a wyrd sister but does she
bring glad tidings or bad? And Darren faces every teenagers nightmare the purge.

8.Allies Of The Night- A new day brings a new threat and Darren is re-united with his childhood friends but not all are as pleased to see him as he would be
them and if that wasn't bad enough Darren Shan vampire prince must face school and homework. But bodies pile up and danger awaits.

9.Killers Of The Dawn- Things have reached an all time low for the hunters and they are about to get even worse. As they descend into the tunnels below the
city it's quite clear that not all of them will be coming back. Darren faces the worst blow during the years of his life the loss of a
second father by his once best friend.

10.The Lake Of Souls- Darren is broken and lost he's lost everything and the one person that could of helped him is dead and it's his fault. But as ever life goes
on and it's not long before he's back fighting for his life on a journey to find a lost soul.

11.The Lord Of Shadows- There is no escape one is doomed to destroy the world and in teh penultimate book everything changes and war fully breask out. Can
Darren stay true to himself and will he be successful in bargaining for his newphews life. At his old home.

12. Sons Of Destiny- Darren and Steve must now decide who will be the Lord Of Shadows but a shocking revelation is coming and Darren msut unwit
Destiny to save the world and himself.

I know many adults who read Darren Shan saga's, they sound fascinating! How do the cd versions compare to the books? Does the voice alter the way you mentally see things?
Which do you prefer? books or cd's?
I also think they're making a film of one of his books aren't they?

I heard about it and was wondering if to read it but didn't see it in bookshop here... Maybe now i will lokk more carefully

The CD versions of the books are just as good, but I don't think they would be as good without first actually having the book. This because the CD allows you to bring the characters to life but the book puts the actual emotion behind the voices. Just remember Durga, DESTINY waits in store for those who dare to cross him!
Darren Shan has also released another saga though this time not concerning himself. The DEMONATA Saga.... hell has been unleashed.
These books are slightly darker than the other series as they are meant for late teens to adults. Not all haev been released yet book there are 10 books in all.


1. Lord Loss

- Grubitsch Grady lives at home with his parents and sister Gretelda. Both have shortened their names to Grubbs and Gret and call each other their
full names when their fighting with each other. But Grubbs' world is about to take a turn not for the worst but for the magical and revolting. When a
prank on his sister starts a old Grady curse turning again, Grubbs starts to relize a change in his family. When his parents start to act weird and a
mystical trip to the ballet is put into action. Grubbs knowing something is wrong sneaks back to his parents house to find the ballet was a lie. The
upstairs bedroom has become hell, his parents have been eaten, decapidated or in his sisters case ripped apart. Demons stalk the home and
Grubbs soon realises he's fighting for his life and sanity. A mysterious uncle comes to visit but does he threaten to ruin Grubbs' life again or can
his magic spells and gruff nature save Grubbs' from what he fears most...? The game of chess is fatal!




2. Demon Thief

- Kernel Fleck was always different, able to see portals through to the Demonata universe and access them people think he's mad. But when
Demons snatch his brother Artery, Kernel travels with a true Magician to the Demonata universe only to be confronted by the Demon master
Lord Loss. Kernel must solve the mystery of who took his brother making no more than three fails. But seeing what Artery has become , a hell
child, will Kernel still love his brother.


3. Slawter

- Since returning from the Demonata Universe Grubbs' uncle Dervish Grady has been having the most awful nightmares and the only way to help is
about to come at hand. A famous horror film director has agreed to pay a visit to Dervish asking for him to come to the productions and give his
"professional" opinons on how realistic the film set is. Grubbs and Bill-E pay go with him excited by the proposal, but the fun Grubbs realises is about
to turn into the biggest challenge yet. With Demons slowly breaking through to this universe it's up to Grubbs and his uncle to save everybody again.
But their road is blocked by been drugged and held in captivity and they find themselves not saving the universe but cleaning up the mess left
behind. Be careful what you watch, Davida Hayem horror is totally for real.



4. Bec

- This story goes back approximately a millenium to a time when the world was used by Demons and humans. Druids and Preistess' save those they can
and one particular girl named Bec is about to face the ultimate challenge. She is falling slowly for a young man called Bran who later becomes Beranabus
the magician decendant of Bartholmew Garadex, a Grady ancestor. Bec fought for her life as a baby after her mother was murdered by demons. She
was accepted into the clan and used her powers as a preistess. But she became to powerful and wishing to help more joined up with Druid Drust, who
showed her how to control her power. She is actually part of the universes most powerful weapon the Kah-Gash, Grubbs and Kernel are the other parts.
To prevent a tunnel opening allowing demonic control over Earth to finally come through, Bec, Drust and Bran gather at the magical lodestone and
try to block the tunnel. But some demons get through and a sacrifice must be made. But does Bec die in battle or has her ghost preserved to aid the
future.



5. Blood Beast

- Grubbs and Bill-E are interested in girls and history. But Grubbs is noticing changes in himself, could the curse becoming around again. His
uncle is not helping until an unexpecting visit from the lambs family executioners truns up. Juni Swan a helper at Slawter is fast catching
Dervish's eye but is she helping him to save Grubbs or is she tricking him and turning his nephew over to Lord Loss.



6. Demon Apocolypse

- Demons here Demons there Grubbs and Bill-E are interested in girls and history. Their is a legend that an old sheriff buried large
amounts of gold. Naturally, the boys look for it. But what is actually there is worth more than teh universes survival and an unexpected accident
resulting in the sacrifice of a fellow character, Loch starts the chain of events that happened in Bec all over again. But this time a young
priestess' ghost is alive and well and her old boyfriend is a powerful magican. To make things better all of the Kah-Gash is present but a scarifice
of the key msut be made the key is the person who accidentally sacrificed Loch. But family and trust are put into confusion when a dead member
of the Kah-Gash rises again. Be careful what you do the past is coming alive to make you pay.



7. Death's Shadow

- Now Bec is back she can't adjust to the modern life having lived a millenium earlier. But Dervish still mourning for the death of one nephew
and miserable that the other one is out in the Demonata universe saving others, can't bear to even look at her let alone help her. She
becomes sick and tired of the ignorance and challenges him, but jsut as she does Grubbs, Beranabus and Kernel return with terrifying news.
A new Demon Lord is brewing unlike anything they have ever faced before and the only thing that can defeat it is the Kah-Gash. But the
magic is deadly itself and no-one knows how to use it. A battle ensures a glimspe of the new threat but it's only a shadow. Be warned the
worse nightmares are in your shadow.

That one appeals to me the most. One question Midgaard, does Darren Shan ever run out of ideas? and doe she have any more book in the planning?
