Without a doubt, my absolute favorite Agatha Christie story is They came to Bagdad. The sights, the sounds and smells, the biting truth of the filth and never ending noise day and most of the n ight that people have to put up with there. And the constant threat to one's person if you don't belong in Bagdad.
I loved the heroine, the way she just did things and never thought of the pitfalls or things that would probably go wrong. She lied constantly and usually felt very very badly doing it. And then through some quite ominous happenings that start in a sandwhich shop in London England, our girl finds herself in a desperate intrigue, a man having burst into her posh hotel room door and died right then and th ere.
Her art of lies comes in quite handy when she is pressed into service by a shadowy British organization looking for a certain someone to find out a certain something that , if not obtained, could mean destruction throughout the world.
Loved it loved it, loved it.
