Post subject: "Twilight" is for grown-ups, too.

I've already posted a thread about No new posts "The Twilight Saga" by Stephenie Meyer in the children/young adult forum: http://literaturesociety.freeforums.org ... -t562.html

That was befire I knew how popular the series is, and not just with teenagers. Grown-ups are getting just as hooked to these gritty, exciting, and, yes!
tender and roamntic books.

If you're reading them, or have read them....what do you think? (Don't forget "spoiler" alerts, please).

I've read Twilight which I LOVED. I'm now hungrily devouring New Moon, which began with a bang...no pussy-footing around!

***SPOILER below about events in New Moon

Right now I am so upset with Edward! What was he thinking? I don;t believe for a moment that he meant a word of what he said to Bella bout not wanting to be with her anymore. He wants her to be safe and he doesn't htink he's good for her. But honestly, he's all but destroyed her by leaving her! Tear Hair: I got teary-eyed myself when he left her.

Now she's hearing Edwarad's voice evey time she's in danger, and I don;t think it's psychosomtic, either. AND I just found out that Jake is a werewolf, although I was begining to get suspicious of that. Now Laurent is dead (good riddance) and Victoria is on the loose! This can only get scarier. :worried:

I also got teary-eyed when Edward left and there was one more moment toward the end of the book when i felt similar. It was hard for me to believe that Edward couldn't see how it will end up for Bella if he will leave. For me t was obvious that it will put her into deep depression, after all she told him clearly what she wants and what is more improtant for her. Of course he didn't want to hurt her, but i think it was way to late to avoid it... Anyhow i finished the series and i want more
For now i've found the first 12 chapters of first book from Edward's point of view. It's available here: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/pdf/midni ... draft3.pdf

Oh, I don't know how I'm going to bear it when I've finished the last book! I'm going to save "Edward's point of view" for then, maybe it'll soften the blow. *sigh*

The Host just came in the mail this afternoon. I think it will take me a few chapters before I forgive it for not be a "Twilight" book, but it does look good. :)

I finished New Moon. Those scenes in Italy in the house of the Volturi were so scary! I am embarrassed to admit that I cried (happy tears) when Edward and Bella got back together! For some reason I've never been crazy about Jacob.I don't completely trust him. I'm halfway through Eclipse now and 'm so irritated with Bella. After all the agony she and Edward went through being apart, why does she insist on spending time with Jacob and the other werewolves. I don't think it's fair to Edward. Bella says Jacob is her "best friend" but that just sounds silly and childish, especially when Bella knows that Jacob feels more than friendship for her. I also wish Bella would marry Edward. She says it will look bad to other people, but since when has she cared about what other people think? I mean, hey, she hangs out with vampires and werewolves!

I'm just at the part of the book where Bella realizes that there's just one week until graduation, and now she doesn't know if she is ready to become a vampire herself, after all the arguing about it she did before! *sigh* What next, I wonder?

Liz, i have to say i was irritated by Bella's behaviour too! I never liked Jacob and i just can't understand how she could be so blind - he is the most selfish character in this book and Bella's saying "he is just a friend" is childish :( I just couldn't understand how she could hurt Edward so much and at the same time allow Jacob to have hope for something more!
I was also irritated by her doubts - it didn't fit her previous behaviour. I can't wait to know what You will think about "Breaking Dawn" ;) i had mixed feelings about some parts ;)
