God Is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens
One fears Hitchens preaches only to the converted with this potent polemic against organised religion, which is, he says, "violent, irrational, intolerant, allied to racism and tribalism and bigotry… contemptuous of women and coercive towards children", but there can be no better affirmation of the case for the prosecution than this thorough and impeccably constructed dismantling of the "transparent fables [assembled] by crude, uncultured, human mammals [during] the bawling and fearful infancy of our species."
